Dear Reader, I would like to invite you on a journey of the senses, to a world where you can feel beautiful inside and out, to a world where you can easily make your own sensational body butters, creams and lotions for a fraction of the price of similar products in retail stores and you can make them from completely natural and cruelty free ingredients. One of the most divine of these natural ingredients is Coconut Oil.
I have utterly, helplessly fallen in love with Coconut oil. Coconut Oil has almost magical properties and can be used to make everything from body butter, face cream, lip balm, toothpaste, deodorant, hand and foot cream, hair masks…the list is endless. Never mind all the gorgeous food stuffs coconut is in from ice cream to chocolate to sorbets.
In the last few weeks, I have seen the difference from using coconut oil every day as opposed to the more conventional products I used to use. My skin is effortlessly moisturised, my hair is soft and shiny and my teeth look cleaner and whiter with each passing day.
The scent of coconut instantly transports me to a place where sea, sand and endless azure skies meet and bliss is but a bite away…
Here is a delicious recipe using Coconut Oil I tried out today.
Decadent Body Butter
- Organic Coconut oil
- Organic Coco Butter
- Sweet Almond Oil
- Organic Shea Butter
- Essential Oils of your choice [I choose Lavender, Camomile and Vanilla]
- Place equal amounts of the ingredients into a glass bowl
- Place over a saucepan with water to create a double boiler effect and heat until the mix is fully melted
- Place in the fridge for a hour until it has hardened
- Using a electric whisk, beat the mix into a soft but firm foam
- Add five to ten drops of an essential oil of your choice
- Whisk again and then place into a mason jar/glass container
- Enjoy 🙂
Other Possible Body Butter Combinations:
- Coco Powder
- Natural food dyes
- Ground Oatmeal
- Vitamin E Oil
- Other essentials oils: Rose, Peppermint, citrus…

Its very late here, well into the darkest hours of the night and I can hear the rain dripping down the windows and the cold Atlantic wind knocking my pots of herbs on the balcony against the glass. My dreams of tropical island bliss seem very far away but will sustain me until the sun breaks through over the Clare hills across the bay at dawn.
